Like, a Heatwave

Are you also meeeeelting, like the grilled cheese above?

There is a heatwave gripping the Bay Area this week, and it’s no freaking joke. Being mere miles from the coastal breezes that surround SFs 7x7, it’s manageable at our spot, but inland its forecasted to reach record-breaking temps of 120+.

While I really love to cook, eff having an elective heat source on when you’re actively sweating down your back, even when standing still in the shade. So, if you too are dreaming of a perfectly foggy morning of 60 degrees with blue sky peaking through, my condolences to you for the heat we shall endure over these next few HOT days.

In the meantime, since being outside currently feels like a punishment and not a gift, seems a great time to dust off le blog and remind myself that perfection isn’t the point. If this rings true for you as well, then let’s take a deep breath together (pause for breath in on 5…4…3…2…1, ok go for it) now (hold for 5/exhale/repeat as needed).

I’d like to acknowledge that if you feel called to do it (whatever “it” is for you), it’s better to create, hone your skills, and try and try again, than to bow out of even attempting because of fear of… failure? disinterest? imperfection? insert fear-fulled emotion here:

So! Without further ado, I’m ripping off the bandaid of posting on the interwebs via knochknoch RIGHT THIS VERY MOMENT.

I hope you have a great day that includes copious amounts of the below aqua fresca I made my family yesterday. Threw in life photos as well, because it’s my blog and I’ll overshare if I want to. See you on the flip and all that jazz, and here’s the blackberry + watermelon aqua fresca I wing-dinged up yesterday if you’re so inclined:

BLACKBERRY WATERMELON AQUA FRESCA:

In a blender combine: two cups cubed/chilled/deseeded watermelon, one cup ice cubes, half cup blackberry juice, one limes worth of juice, one cup of water, blend until frothy. Pour until your glass is 3/4 full, then and if you have it and want to, add a mint sprig, a slice of seedless cucumber, and top with sparkling water.

*I had no cucumber or mint, and this was still so refreshing that the youth of our house may or may not have yelped in sadness when they discovered it was all gone ;)
