When my agenda has a line item for a bit’o emotional sorting and filing, I find it meditative and uplifting to get my hands busy creating. I can spend hours working on one kitchen craft, and while I love to embark on in-depth learning adventures with food, sometimes I need something short+sweet+neat. So, to change it up, I’ve spent the past few sessions focused on an important family favorite… perfecting snack time.

We are a household that truly enjoys food of all kinds, but when snacks and apps are involved, it’s b-b-ba-business time. Sure I’ll eat a piece of fruit, or a handful of roasted cashews if that’s all we have on hand, but I’d rather have a variety of options to use as building blocks for flavor sensations. It’s a fun way to realize a new delightful umami combination, or that perfect savory+spicy bite. A truly inspirational snack attack can send you on an edible trail towards future dinner party dishes. The opportunity to share food and laughs with those I love … well that’s my happiest place of all.
