A friend of mine has a fantastic playlist on Spotify, that I have recently started following. It mostly plays in the background while I work during the day, but every once in a while, there is a song that strikes me, and I end up listening to it anywhere from 7-100 times in a row.
I had never heard of Apparat, and that is probably because he has been mostly electronic, which is fine, but not where I typically find myself. He has evolved and become “more interested in designing sounds than beats”. A Violent Sky is the type of song that, especially when listened to through headphones, causes immediate introspection. It makes you want to be great. Do the difficult thing. Fight for love. Persevere.
The 13-year-old-My-So-Called-Life-watching version of me gets it.
